Car Hire

At Surf  Stay we can organise your car hire for you quickly and easily. All you need to do is provide us with your details in advance and we will have a quality car waiting for you at the airport when you land – saving you taxi fares and the sometimes “interesting” experience of dealing with the local car hire providers!

Many of our guests hire a car for their entire stay which means:

  • Independent surf exploration
  • Independent sightseeing and exploring further afield (Paradise Valley, Imessouane, Atlas Mountains)
  • Solve the flat day blues!

Whilst you need to keep your wits about you, driving in Morocco isn’t overly daunting – particularly when you get out of the cities and up the beautiful coastal road. In fact, for many, “road-trips” and the eternal question: “I wonder what’s around the next point…..” are a favourite part of the holiday!

If going off road and exploring the dunes of the Sahara Desert is something you’d like to try then we also arrange rental of a 4×4, just ask us for more details.

Insurance etc..

Two named drivers are allowed to each car and additional drivers can be added if required, please identify both the drivers on the “info sheet” we provide. All drivers must have held a valid licence for a minimum of one year – if you’re unsure of anything then don’t hesitate to get in touch and we’ll respond straight away. Unlike other companies we do not ask for a Visa imprint on arrival; payment to Surf ‘n’ Stay is expected at the end of your stay.

Insurance covers you totally if you are not responsible for causing an accident/damage; otherwise you pay 5% of any incurred costs. Any damage to the tyres will NOT be covered by insurance.

In the unlikely event of an accident or theft a police report is essential in order for the insurance company to pay. In the absence of the police report you are FULLY responsible. This is why we advise everyone to drive safely and be fully aware that the conditions of the road may not be what you are used to at home.

In Morocco, as in continental Europe driving is on the right side of the road. The main roads around urban areas are reasonable but as the roads become more rural they can become unpaved tracks. We also advise you to take care driving at night in the countryside, as you are quite likely to encounter people walking on the roadsides or riding bikes without lights. Camels, donkeys and other animal drawn vehicles are also commonplace.
